Wild Mount Morgan Clay

Celebrate the unique red clay of the region with hand built ceramic birdlife

History

Historic Mount Morgan  is an old goldmining town. One hundred years of mining left a legacy of both dilapidated buildings and poisoned creek beds. But it hosts a  resilient  community  and green hilly country, redolent with the songs of a variety of birdlife, wallabies and  dingoes Many of the early buildings were built with locally sourced red  clay from claypits closed along with the mine.  My vision is to share this ‘wild clay’ which starts its life yellow and  textured  and when drum fired  turns a rich red. These clay birds not only represent the town’s foundation but highlight our glorious local birdlife.  Each purchase of a ceramic gift provides financial support for Birdlife Australia, who keep track of local populations and  fight to conserve habitat.  Specific information about each bird created can be found on their website Birdslife.org.au
